I had the joy of working with the Edmonton based theatre dedicated to creating brave, eccentric new works.
Murder Mime the Musical tells the story of a passionate opera student named Max, who damages his vocal cords during a very important audition. Without a voice, the student must then find another way to artistically express himself; therefore, he discovers the art form of mime. Unfortunately, his bad luck continues as his life spirals into crazy chaos so much so that he ends up accidentally killing some of his friends. Without a voice, he desperately tries to explain that the incident really was an accident – but not many believe him.
In this musical, I played Rosemary. She is Max’s innocent, 10 year old next-door neighbor who is completely in love with him. She is convinced that one day he will finally admit that he loves her too and sticks by his side through all his life chaos until a tragic accident occurs. I also was double cast as Max’s sister, Sadie, who is diagnosed with a terminal illness; her death throws Max into an even deeper depression.
I have never died so many times in one show; I became a pro at hilarious, dark comedy death scenes.
